Privacy policy
Effective September 21, 2026
Mixtape is designed so you can edit personal media without turning your creative work into our data. This policy explains what the Mixtape app and this website access, why they access it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information Mixtape accesses
Mixtape may request access to your photo library so you can choose photos and videos and save completed exports. If you record a voiceover, the app requests microphone access. If you create automatic captions, the app requests speech recognition access. You control these permissions in iOS or iPadOS Settings and can revoke them at any time.
2. Projects and media
Your projects, edit decisions, downloaded audio previews, generated templates, extracted audio, and related project files are stored locally on your device. Mixtape does not currently provide an account system or cloud project sync, and the app does not upload your photo or video library to a Mixtape server.
3. On-device processing
Core editing, preview, export, template generation, person segmentation, motion tracking, visual effects, and MixPilot timeline planning are designed to run on your device. Mixtape uses Apple platform technologies such as AVFoundation, Vision, Core Image, and supported on-device models to perform this work.
4. Features that may use a network connection
Mixtape includes optional Freesound search. When you use it, your search terms and the technical information necessary to complete a web request are sent to Freesound, and audio previews may be streamed or downloaded from Freesound. Freesound’s own privacy terms apply to that service.
Caption generation uses Apple’s Speech framework. Processing stays on-device when the selected language and device support it. Otherwise, Apple Speech Recognition may require a network connection and Apple’s applicable privacy terms govern that processing.
5. Website data
This marketing website does not ask you to create an account, submit a form, or provide personal information. Like most hosted websites, the hosting provider may process basic request information—such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and security logs—to deliver and protect the site.
6. Data sharing and sale
Mixtape does not sell your personal information. We do not share your projects or media for advertising. Information is sent to third-party services only when you choose a feature that requires that service, as described above, or when disclosure is required by law.
7. Children’s privacy
Mixtape is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website. Because the app does not currently create Mixtape accounts or collect user profiles, we do not maintain a database of child users.
8. Security and retention
Local project data remains on your device until you delete a project or remove the app, subject to your device backups and operating-system behavior. Downloaded audio and temporary processing files are managed locally. No method of storage is completely risk-free, so keep your device protected and maintain backups of important exported work.
9. Your choices
You can deny or revoke Photos, Microphone, and Speech Recognition permissions in device Settings. You can avoid network-backed features by using bundled sounds and supported on-device caption processing. You may delete local projects from within Mixtape or remove the app and its locally stored data through the operating system.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Mixtape changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material updates are published.
11. Contact
During the beta, privacy questions can be sent through Apple TestFlight’s feedback tools. Please do not attach private media, project files, or sensitive personal information to feedback.
